WebBank Information Content

WebBank stores your URL collection in a file called a "Bank". You may have as many Banks as you wish or you can use the default of a single bank. WebBank can record the following information for the URLs in your Bank:

URL

URLs provide a universal standard for referring to objects and services — local, Intranet, and Internet. You can access Worldwide Web pages, FTP servers, folders, files, applications, and UseNet servers.  You can even access your email software and start a message (with addressee, subject, body, etc. already completed)!

Examples of popular URL forms are:

Note: WebBank will launch whatever software is established as the default on your system when you go to a URL. This could be a browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator; a file manager such as Windows Explorer, an application such as Microsoft Excel or Word, or a mail client such as Outlook or Outlook Express.

Name

A unique Identifier of your choosing to help you quickly recognize the URL.

Description

A short description of the entry to supplement the Name.

Rating

A free-form field that you can use to indicate your rating for the entry.

Last Access

The last date the entry was used.

Access Count

The number of times the entry has been used.

Change Date

The last date the entry was modified.

User ID

Storage of a User ID that may be needed to gain access to a protected web site.

Password

Companion to User ID but access is password-protected.

EMail Address

An Email address can be stored here for reference or used to launch an Email message as an alternate to using a URL.

Category 1, Category 2, Category 3

WebBank allows you to classify your URL entries by up to three levels of category. You can use these to group similar URLs and as an aid in quickly finding the entry you want. Categories are hierarchical, with Category 3 being a subset of a Category 2 and Category 2 being a subset of a Category 1. You may have as many categories of each level as you wish.

Favorite

Favorite is a special identifier for the URLs you frequently use. It causes the URL to be placed at the top of the entry display where it is readily available for quick access.

Notes

Free form information of your choosing about the URL. This can be useful for such things as remembering why you kept a URL, the products that a company produces, your assessment of the value of the URL, etc.

Confidential Notes

Free form information like Notes but password-protected access.
